Got questions? We've got answers!

These are some of the questions we hear all the time. If you're having trouble with your E-Stopp, please check our troubleshooting section. If we don't have an answer to your question here, contact us!

  • BRAKES AND CABLES

What kind of brakes does the E-Stopp work with?

Any brakes that accept a standard emergency brake cable.

Will the unit hook up to my existing e-brake cables?

Yes, it makes for an easier install. Be sure to double check the quality and operation of your existing cables.

Can it be attached to both brakes?

Yes, most emergency brake cables run to both brakes. If yours do not, we offer a cable junction bracket which will combine both cables.

How many inches of travel does the E-Stopp have?
About 2 inches. Most systems only need about 1. The motor stops itself once it reaches 600 pounds of resistance.

  • MOUNTING

Where should I mount the motor enclosure?

With encased cables you can mount it anywhere you have room; on the chassis, under the floorboard or even inside the cab or trunk.

Ensure that the surface to which the enclosure is mounted is able to withstand the 600 pounds of shearing force that will be applied when the brake is engaged.

Avoid high temperature areas unless properly heat-shielded.

    Is the E-Stopp weatherproof?

The motor enclosure is double-layered weatherproof (IP67 rated). The control box is not waterproof and should be mounted in the cab or another protected area.

  • POWER

Will the E-Stopp drain my battery?

No. Once engaged the unit locks and draws only a small amount of current from the battery. It only uses significant power when actively engaging and disengaging.

What happens if my battery dies for other reasons while the brake is engaged?
The unit remains engaged until it receives power again.

How does the ignition safety device work?

The E-Stopp can be wired to your vehicle's ignition switch. Doing so prevents the E-Stopp from being accidentally engaged by the occupants while driving. It can be disengaged at any time. This is completely optional.

  • CUSTOMIZATION

Can I use a different button?

Sure! We have more information about this on our how-to page.

    Can I extend the wires?

The wires from the control module to the actuator may be extended up to 15 feet with 16 gauge stranded wire.

If you'd like to move the button farther from the control module, check out the harness extensions in our shop!

  • SAFETY

What safety certifications does the E-Stopp have?

The E-Stopp is NSRA Safety Certified. The unit must be connected to both rear brakes to remain compliant.

    Is the E-Stopp DOT certified?
The DOT only certifies brake hoses and brake calipers. Not emergency or parking brakes.
